Duration:
- League Matches - 20 Mins each (Total Duration 3 hrs)
- Finals - 1 hr
- First Match to start at 4:30 PM
○ Captains to report at 4:15 PM sharp
○ Players to report at least 10 mins ahead of their respective match start time
Rules:
- Only 6 players on the floor at any given time: 3 in the front row and 3 in the back row.
- Look out for the Referee whistle before a serve. (No more than 1 warning and there on a point will be awarded to opposition team)
- Server must serve from behind the end line (White) until after contact.
- Ball may be served underhand or overhand.
- Same Player should not serve after a point break/Service cut.
- Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serving.
- Points are made on every serve for the winning team of the rally (rally-point scoring).
- Players may not hit the ball twice in succession (a block is not considered a hit).
- Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a serve.
- If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play.
- A ball hitting a boundary line is in.
- A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor completely outside the court, any of the net or cables outside the antennae, the referee stand or pole, or the ceiling above a non-playable area.
- It is illegal to contact the ball with any part of the body except feet(below the knee). If a player touches the ball or the ball touches a player, it is considered as a play on the ball.
- It is illegal to catch, hold or throw the ball.
- A player cannot block or attack a serve from on or inside the 10-foot line.
Fouls:
(Committing any of these volleyball rule violations results in a point for the opponent.)
- Stepping on or across the service line when serving while making contact with the ball.
- Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully.
- Wait for
- Ball-handling errors and contacting the ball illegally such as double touching, lifting, carrying, throwing, etc.
- Touching the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play. If the ball is driven into the net with such force that it causes the net to contact an opposing player, no foul will be called, and the ball shall continue to be in play.
- Attacking a ball coming from the opponent’s court and contacting the ball when reaching over the net when the ball has not yet broken the vertical plane of the net.
- Crossing the court centerline with any part of your body, with the exception of a hand or foot. It is only considered a violation if the entire hand or entire foot crosses the court centerline.
- Same Player Serving after point break.
Timeouts:
- Captain/Server can request for a timeout within the stipulated 20 mins of the match
- Timeout should be requested before a serve of the requesting team.
- Signal ‘T’ with your hands to the referee.
- Duration of a Timeout is 30 secs and each team will be eligible for Two timeouts per set.
- Teams may/may not utilise the timeout.
- No timeouts will be granted after the stipulated 20 mins.
