"Cancer" is a dreaded word that we are hearing about more often in the recent past. Cancer is the second leading cause of death globally, and is responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Globally, about 1 in 6 deaths is due to cancer.

Personally, I have seen my close friends and loved ones fight this dreadful disease. While some of them have received a new lease of life, others have not been so lucky in their battle. However, what is consistent in all their stories is the courage, sacrifice and always hope that shines bright. Undoubtedly, cancer affects the whole family along with the person going through it, changing peoples' lives forever!

I wish to contribute in my own little way by trekking Kilimanjaro in Sep 2019 to support people fighting this dreadful disease. It is my tribute to the people who have lost their lives to cancer and my admiration to the hope of those people who are fighting it.

My friends and I are organising a Charity Badminton Tournament on Sunday 19th May 2019, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. All monies raised less the cost of event will be contributed to Cancer Research UK a registered charity in England and Wales (No. 1089464), Scotland (No. SC041666) and the Isle of Man (No. 1103)

Cancer Research UK will be paying the balance of my trip costs out of the sponsorship monies that I raise. The amount paid by Cancer Research UK to Charity Challenge will not exceed 49% of the fundraising target.
